2 small onions or shallots finely chopped
2 pods garlic crushed
4 green chillis slit lengthwise.
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 cup grated fresh coconut
Pinch of turmeric powder.
1 tsp mustard seeds.
1 tsp split udad dal
curry leaves for garnish
salt to taste.
oil for tempering. ( coconut oil preferably )
Pulse in the mixie a little coarsely the coconut, turmeric powder, shallots, green chillis, garlic , salt, cumin seeds, keep aside.
In a pan, add the oil, splutter the mustard seeds, add the split udad dal, add the beet root, sprinkle water to cook ,lastly add the coarsely ground mixture on top, give a good stir, remove and garnish.
