Arisi Upma mix .. ( Rice upma mix. ) replenished for travels regularly by me and also for home use nowadays as i like to save time on processing rice and dal . Very delicious and to me healthy option too as it has dal, some spices as well .and I will not compromise on the coconut oil needed for the preparation . 🙂
I prepare the mix first regularly, store it well . Just add coconut oil in a heavy pan , toss in a heaped tbsp or two of fresh grated coconut , add 3 cups of boiling water and 1 cup of the mix .
A big pinch of asafoetida , salt . Cover and cook , As simple as that .

so one of the many travel mixes that i make, this comes on top , it is like a meal to me , as I can skip a boring breakfast of oats or cereals on my trips, instead i have to just measure out required amount of mix, add boiling water and cook either on gas or in microwave . this comes very handy during hotel stays as most hotel rooms have a microwave too and a kettle to boil water . Such travel recipes and foods are very useful when travelling with kids and elders . Tip : you can make your upma mix with ready idli arisi rava from stores . I use this mix to prepare upma kozhakkatai and Pongal
