BELL PEPPER HUMMUS

Red bell pepper hummus is a delicious dip that can be used in many ways as a dip for bread, pita breads, as a spread for sandwiches or wraps , so very versatile and delicious . It is almost like the Indian chutney but with few ingredients , comes a as a refreshing change for those addicted to Indian foods .

Hummus comes from the Arabic word meaning chick peas and the complete name of the prepared dip in Arabic is called  hummus bi tahina which means hummus with tahini ( sesame paste )  as an appetizer or as a spread hummus is eaten with pita bread, scooped up and usually served with falafel, other non veg dishes or eggplant .several garnishes are used such as tomatoes, cucumber, parsley,onions,paprika, bell peppers, , olives, sumac. It is also served with tortilla chips or crackers in other parts of the world . It is also flavored with cumin or other spices.

Hummus forms a part of every day meals in Israel, For Palestinians and people in Jordan Hummus is a staple food served warm, with bread for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Chickpeas being the main ingredients , is very healthy , nutritious and full of fibre .

Instructions
  1. Roast the bell peppers with oil in a wok , till almost charred .
  2. remove the bell peppers, and peel off the skin , or leave it if you wish , doesnt make a difference unless it is too charred.
  3. Place all ingredients except salt in a food processor or a mixie jar, blend till smooth , pour olive oil when almost done , mix well , sprinkle some chilly flakes .

  5. You can use a tsp or two of of dried basil, or cilantro or parsley , if you have none of the herbs , just grind with some cumin .and red dry chillies skip garlic cloves if you want to ..this is a very easy dip to make with your choice of flavors and spices. ..
