Preheat the heavy pan in which you will bake on gas stove , after layering with salt and placing a heavy plate or stand inside, cover with lid and preheat on high for 3-4 minutes till you prepare the batter .
in a bowl add the oil or butter add, powdered sugar , beat well till light and appears fluffy ( creaming them )
add the milk powder, mawa., mix well till mawa combines well in the mixture ..keep aside.
in another bowl, use a sieve add all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, corn flour, sieve all together,
add the buttermilk, mix gently, add milk .
Add the creamed butter/ oil ,sugar and mawa , milk powder mixture that we mixed in first bowl , add milk and make the batter, it will be thick, so add little more milk if necessary,
add cardamom powder.
Mawa cake batter will be thicker than other cake batters so its fine , but it shouldnt be dry .The wet ingredient here is milk , to make batter with ( instead of eggs )
grease either a cake tin , or muffin cups or ramekins , use a ladle to scoop batter into each ramekin, upto 3/4 th full, place carefully on a circular plate or a tray and place inside the heated pan . Cover with a lid ,
let the gas flame be reduced to medium initially to low at the last few minutes of baking …if using normal oven you can preheat to 170-180 degrees )
the baking time on gas stove will be around 25-30 minutes,
when the top of the ramekin appears firm, and lightly brown, the cake begins to show signs of leaving the sides of the ramekins, its an indication the cake is done , check with a tooth pick to see if it comes out clean .
remove the ramekins, allow to cool on a rack .
run a knife around the side, and remove on to a plate .
Enjoy delicious mawa cake .
